What's the best part of being a gluten-free blogger?

Blogging challenges us to seek out new foods, try new recipes, find new products and generally be on the leading edge of the gluten free scene in D.C. It's a great excuse to eat great food more often.

What's the hardest part of being a gluten-free blogger?

We're very cautious not to generalize about ingredients or restaurant food choices. When you're blogging about something that affects overall health and is the source of an autoimmune disease, you're actually helping people make decisions that can impact their overall well-being. We've had questions from people asking if products we've reviewed are really gluten free. We take those questions seriously and always do our research.

Lessons Learned

  • Cross contamination is real and if you get sick at a restaurant, you should let your readers know so they don't have the same experience.
  • It's hard to keep up with all of the newest gluten-free menus in the DC-area and the ever-changing gluten free options at local stores. We're always looking to our readers for good tips.
  • So many people don't understand the gluten-free diet. They think its a fad or a weight-loss trick. Restaurants and chefs need to start taking this diet as seriously as they take a nut allergies and its up to us gluties to hold them accountable.
